Online Course

how do you get all the information you need to complete your assessment booklets, pass your practical examination and be awarded a level 2/3 diploma in personal training?

The course has been specifically designed to enable anyone studying on it, to be able to achieve the qualification entirely through self-study.

To enable you to do this, we have provided a huge range of resources which are all listed under the title STUDY RESOURCES.

There are SIX main ways we think are the best method to get through your course successfully.

1. One of the first places you need to go to is the STUDY RESOURCES section. Within this there are various sections which are linked to the assessments you will have to complete. They are: Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, Business and Personal Training. Within these are what we have called Essential Lectures and these provide all the basic information you will need to pass the course. You will note that as you go through some of the lectures, information is repeated. This is a deliberate tactic to enable you to gradually take on more and more complex material and get a deeper understanding of the subject.

An essential part of being a personal trainer is

We have provided a whole series of videos called Exercise Library in the STUDY RESOURCES containing dozens of examples of exercises being taught by a leading personal trainer, together with coaching tips to ensure your client is doing them correctly. And in the Personal Training - Essential Lectures (again in the STUDY RESOURCES) you will find also all the information you could possibly need on how to plan a session and an ongoing programme of sessions,

2. Because this is an online course, it is essential that you start physically practising what you’re learning online. You can do this by going to the gym with a friend who’s willing for you to practise on them.

3. Read the Essential Lectures in the STUDY RESOURCES on the various topics (such as Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition and Business) that you will need to know about when you fill in your assessment booklets (more about these below!)

4. Underneath the Essential Lectures, there is a section called Supplementary Lectures where you will find videoed lectures by guest lecturers who are industry experts. These are definitely worth a watch.

5. DOING YOUR OWN RESEARCH which is a vital part of learning. In the STUDY RESOURCES, you will find a section called Student Library where we have included a number of free downloadable text-books. And of course, the internet is an invaluable source of information.

6. AND FINALLY – Your Assessment Booklets. These you will find in a section in the STUDY RESOURCES. You should download them and save them to your computer because you need to be filling them in as you go through the course. Please do NOT print them out – they are PDF documents which allow you to type your answers in the boxes. When you fill in the answers, DON’T just copy and paste things that you have read. You MUST PUT INFORMATION IN YOUR OWN WORDS.

That way your examiner will know that you have understood what you have written

Also, don’t forget to save the document as you go along. We all know someone whose computer dies after three hours of work – and they’ve lost the lot!!

DON’T BE TEMPTED TO LEAVE FILLING IN THE ASSESSMENT BOOKETS TILL THE LAST MINUTE. Far better to set aside definite times during the week when you fill them in bit by bit. If you don’t do this, you may find that it all becomes too overwhelming, and you just give up.
